Ahimsa for WP hits 1000 downloads

From the WordPress themes site, a nice statistic:

Ahimsa for WP hits 1000 downloads

Though a quick Google search suggests the adoption/usage rate is pretty low! ;-)

Congratulations on the 1,000 downloads milestone. One thing though, the link to WordPress isn’t working, the ‘ is part of the url :)

Hendrik, thanks for the warning on the broken link. I have fixed it now.

For my art blog, I have a theme heavily modified by me but that has a downside: I have to maintain it myself
For example I don’t have time to migrate it to the WP 2.6.5 yet. So, for my personal blog I am looking for another theme.

I have just decided to use Ahimsa for my personal blog.
    I looked at 300+ themes on http://www.wpthemes360.com/
I liked the design on some of them but I liked yours best.

You did a very good job from both a design and a technical point of view.

    Faltiska,

thank you for the note! I am happy you found the theme worthwhile. I agree with your point regarding the hazards of theme customisation. That is one of the reasons I invite requests from my theme users so that I can try to add as much of their customisation changes as preferences they can set in the theme itself. If you have any such requests, you can open up a bug at http://ahrencode.16bugs.com/

    Ravi,

I think you’re too modest about your theme – I think it looks great! I’ve been playing with the code and doing some modifications. There are two things I was unable to figure out – I thought you might have some ideas.

    1) I want to try making the sidebar wider (same functions, just want it to take up more of the screen) – but in looking at CSS and js I couldn’t figure out exactly how to do this.

    2) I’m trying to make the dateauthor capsule never appear on PAGES I’ve created, and only appear on blog entries. Any ideas? Thanks again for a great starting place, and any help you can offer. And I’ll definitely post a high rating on Wordpress.

    - Mark

p.s. On Safari (mac), your Contact form is not working – that’s why I’m posting to you here in this comment section…

      Mark,

thank you for your comments. They are greatly appreciated!

Regarding your questions, give me a few days and I will get back to you. They should both be fairly easly to do but I am a bit sick today and don’t have the energy to pore through the code. ;-) I like your idea of not have the date/time on a page, since pages are not like journal entries… I will make that a configurable option in the theme. Perhaps the same with sidebar width. I hope to push out a new release in the middle of January.

Mark, I am looking into your questions today… please bother me tomorrow if I haven’t responded by then! Thanks. I will also look at the 1-2 pixel line that the sidebar leaves behind when faded, in Safari.

    Dear Ravi,

New to the whole mess of bloging PhP etc. but with the help of your theme, wordpress and WampServer, I have a test site up and running (took about 6hrs.)

There’s a special place in this life for folks such as yourself, that work hard and freely share their talents with those of us less skilled. A big THANKS to all of you.
